David Buy Art

In art, covering the eyes often speaks of impartial judgment or of turning inward, away from the outside world. In David Buy Art, only the eyes of the black bust remain white; this pale band brings the gaze forward on the dark surface and invites the viewer to face the words on the bust.

David Buy Art is a contemporary take on a bust of David painted matte black, with only the band at eye level left white. A slogan in large white graffiti letters runs across the chest; the sharp contrast of black and white creates the bust's whole effect.

Made of resin, it measures 48 × 43 × 11 cm. On a light-colored column pedestal, a bookcase or a desk, it lets the classical form be read in today's language.
